Today, roughly 97% of satellites in orbit fly without insurance. The assets are worth billions, the missions are business-critical, and almost none carry meaningful protection.
The problem is fundamentally one of information. New space companies and traditional underwriters often operate with different assumptions, datasets, and risk models. Risk is still assessed largely through subjective processes, resulting in premiums that are frequently misaligned with actual exposure.
For many operators, coverage simply becomes uneconomical. As a result, most missions fly uninsured.

Entire industries now depend on satellite-based Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) services. Logistics, mobility, agriculture, maritime, fintech, telecommunications, and critical infrastructure increasingly rely on signals from space.
Yet these services remain exposed to jamming, spoofing, outages, and space weather disruptions, with limited insurance solutions available.
Traditional space insurance was not designed for this new reality — it remains concentrated upstream, slow to issue, difficult to scale, and largely disconnected from real-time operational risk.
